Reef Fishing Around San Pedro

We’ll head out from San Pedro and fish the reef waters around Ambergris Caye.

Depending on conditions and what is biting, you may have the opportunity to catch:

All bait and fishing tackle are provided, so you can focus on enjoying your time on the water.

Deep-Water Fishing When Conditions Allow

If the weather and sea conditions are suitable, Captain Joel may also take you into deeper water for the chance to target larger fish.

Because conditions can change, deeper-water fishing is not guaranteed on every half-day charter.

They picked us up on a dock just down from our hotel. We were trolling almost immediately. We then moved to bottom fishing in 300’ where we caught plenty of red snappper. Next they took us closer to the reef where we spearfished / snorkeled for lobster and fish. We bagged lobster to add to our catch. By then it was lunch time and we hit a beach where Joel & JR prepared our caught fish and lobster. The lunch was delicious! To finish off the day we trolled in the deep water and caught black fin tuna, spanish mackerel, and bonito. Let’s say we were exhausted and slept so good that night. We caught lots of fish (barracuda, snapper and jacks), plus some lobsters on the second day.  Great local vibe, great snorkeling locations (sharks, rays, reefs, everything), and a really fun beach BBQ with the fish and lobster we caught.  100% recommend for a genuine experience with a down to earth, local guide with a deep knowledge of the reef and a humble willingness to share it.

He knows the good fishing spots and is very knowledgeable, since he's been fishing all of his life. No. Beginners are welcome, and the crew can help with baiting, casting, fishing techniques, and removing fish from the hook.

Is fishing gear included?

Yes. Fishing gear and bait are included.

What fish can we catch?

Depending on conditions and what is biting, you may have the opportunity to catch snapper, jack, barracuda, mackerel, grouper, and other local reef species.

Can we fish in deeper water?

If weather and sea conditions allow, there may be an opportunity to fish deeper water for larger fish.

Can I keep the fish I catch?

Yes. If you would like to keep your catch, the crew can clean and prepare it for you after the trip.

Can children join?

Yes. Families are welcome. If you have younger children, mention their ages when sending your inquiry so Captain Joel can help you plan accordingly.
