Reef Fishing Around San Pedro, Belize

This full-day beach BBQ fishing tour combines reef fishing, snorkeling, seasonal lobster and conch hunting, and a fresh beach BBQ into one private adventure. We’ll start the day fishing the reef waters around San Pedro and Ambergris Caye, where you have the opportunity to catch snapper, jack, mackerel, barracuda, grouper, and other local species.

You don’t need fishing experience to enjoy this tour.

Our crew can help you with baiting your hook, casting, fishing techniques, and safely removing fish from the hook. If you’d rather handle everything yourself, you’re welcome to do that too.

The experience is relaxed and hands-on, making it a great option for experienced anglers, beginners, families, and children who want to try fishing in Belize.

Reef Snorkeling in San Pedro

After fishing, we’ll head to a reef area where you can cool off and explore marine life.

If you’re new to snorkeling, our crew will help you get comfortable in the water. A crew member will be in the water with the group to provide guidance and assistance throughout the snorkeling portion of the tour.

Snorkeling gear is provided, so you simply need to come ready for the adventure.

Lobster & Conch hunting When in Season

One of the most unique parts of this full-day adventure is the opportunity to search for lobster and conch while snorkeling when the season is open.

Our crew will show you what to look for and guide you through the experience. You’ll have the chance to see firsthand how lobster and conch are found around the reef.

All activities are carried out in accordance with Belize’s fishing regulations and seasonal restrictions.

Fresh out of the Water to your plate

After fishing, we head to the beach and prepare the day’s catch the traditional way. We gather wood, build a firehearth, and cook the fresh fish over the fire right there by the water.

While the meal is being prepared, you can relax on the beach and enjoy freshly made ceviche. Depending on the season and the day’s catch, your ceviche may include conch,lobster or fish.

Then it’s time to sit back and enjoy a fresh Belizean beach BBQ made from the catch of the day.

After lunch, if time allows, you can take another swim or enjoy a little more snorkeling before heading back to San Pedro.

They picked us up on a dock just down from our hotel. We were trolling almost immediately. We then moved to bottom fishing in 300’ where we caught plenty of red snappper. Next they took us closer to the reef where we spearfished / snorkeled for lobster and fish. We bagged lobster to add to our catch. By then it was lunch time and we hit a beach where Joel & JR prepared our caught fish and lobster. The lunch was delicious! To finish off the day we trolled in the deep water and caught black fin tuna, spanish mackerel, and bonito. Let’s say we were exhausted and slept so good that night. Helpful Answers Before You Travel

What is the best time of year for fishing in San Pedro?

Fishing is excellent year-round in Belize. Different seasons offer opportunities to catch snapper, grouper, tarpon, bonefish, and other types of fish.

When are conch and lobster in season?

Lobster Season: Typically opens July 1st and runs through February 28th.

Conch Season: Typically opens October 1st and runs through June 30th.

Please Note: The Belize Fisheries Department monitors strict catch quotas to protect our beautiful ocean. If a seasonal quota is met early, the government may close the season ahead of schedule (for example, the conch season closed more than two months early this year). We strictly adhere to all local conservation laws!

How many guests can fit on the boat?

We operate two different vessels to fit your needs: a larger boat that comfortably holds up to 15 passengers, and a smaller, boat perfect for groups of up to 9. We will assign the perfect boat based on your group size and tour type.

What is your emergency plan while out at sea?

Safety is our absolute top priority. Every single boat is fully insured. Our crew members carry active communication devices on board and follow a strict emergency protocol. Additionally, our captain is certified in first aid to assist with any issues, ensuring you have a worry-free day on the water.

When is the best time to travel to Belize for fishing and reef tours?

The best time to visit is during the slower tourism season, from September through mid-December. During these months, the weather is often calmer, creating excellent conditions for fishing, reef fishing, snorkeling, and island-hopping adventures.

Travelers also enjoy fewer crowds in San Pedro, making it easier to experience Belize’s beaches, restaurants, and attractions at a more relaxed pace.
